Canada’s 150 Anniversary Bulb Plantings

In October 2016, the Barrie Garden Club planted 500 red and white tulips at Barrie’s Sunnidale Park Arboretum in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary. The Canada 150 tulip is white with red flames and bears a striking resemblance to our Maple Leaf flag. The National Capital Commission (NCC) has partnered with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to develop and distribute these bulbs.

The beautiful display of patriotic coloured tulips are now in their full glory at the Arboretum entrance sign located at the southeast corner of Sunnidale Road and Cundles Road in Barrie.

Many thanks to our volunteers who have helped to beautify Barrie and contribute to Canada’s 150th Anniversary celebration.
